West Side Story | MPC

I worked as Senior Layout TD at MPC (Montreal) on Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, for 20th Century Studios, focusing on camera blends and set extensions. The clips below are some of the shots I worked on, alongside the official trailer.

My responsibilities on the film included:

Camera blends: blending matchmoved plate cameras with CG cameras to stitch separate takes and CG sections into single, seamless moves.
Set extensions: laying out the CG buildings, streets and skyline that extend the practical locations into 1950s New York, matched to the plates in scale and perspective.
Shot layout: assembling shots in Maya against the tracked cameras, and keeping environment placement consistent across each sequence.
Delivery: publishing cameras, layouts and scene data for the environment, lighting and compositing teams.

Thanks to the whole team at MPC. It was a privilege to work on a Steven Spielberg film.
