The Call of the Wild | MPC Film

I worked as Senior Layout TD at MPC (Montreal) on The Call of the Wild, for 20th Century Studios, focusing on complex camera blends between drone photography and motion-control camera moves. The clips below are some of the shots I worked on, alongside MPC's VFX breakdown for the film.

My responsibilities on the film included:

Camera blends: blending drone plates with motion-control camera passes into single, continuous moves, matching position, speed and lens between sources that were shot in very different ways.
Shot layout: assembling shots in Maya from tracked cameras, environments and characters, establishing scale and staging for a fully CG lead character acting alongside the live-action cast.
Camera work: creating and refining CG cameras for full-CG shots, keeping the feel and lensing of the photographed footage.
Environment layout: lining up terrain and environment assets to the plates, so the CG landscapes extend the locations consistently across each sequence.
Delivery: publishing cameras, layouts and scene data for the animation, FX, lighting and compositing teams.

Thanks to the whole team at MPC for a great project.
