Pokémon Detective Pikachu
Pokémon Detective Pikachu | MPC
I worked as Senior Layout TD at MPC (Montreal) on Pokémon Detective Pikachu, for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. The clips below are some of the shots I worked on.
My responsibilities on the film included:
Shot layout: assembling shots in Maya from tracked cameras, environments and characters, establishing scale, composition and staging for full-CG and plate-based shots.
Character staging: blocking the positions and scale of the CG Pokémon against the live-action cast and sets, giving animation a clear starting point for each shot.
Camera work: creating and refining CG cameras for full-CG shots, and extending matchmoved cameras to follow the action.
Set extensions: placing environment assets to extend the practical sets, and keeping layout consistent across each sequence.
Delivery: publishing cameras, layouts and scene data for the animation, FX, lighting and compositing teams.
Thanks to the whole team at MPC. It was great fun to help bring these characters into the real world.
