Kiribati: Una Vieja Aventura | Ideas Fijas

I worked as Layout Supervisor on Kiribati: Una Vieja Aventura, a 3D animated feature film from Argentina, directed by Alejandro Carlini and Marcos Valdivia and made entirely in Blender. The film follows Yermo, an 80-year-old grandfather, his grandson Luisito and a group of elderly friends as they try to escape from a maximum-security nursing home to fulfil their dreams. Included here are the teaser trailer, the making of and a selection of frames.

My responsibilities on the film included:

Supervising the layout department: defining the layout workflow for the film, assigning and reviewing shots, and keeping style and continuity consistent across every sequence.
Cinematography: working with the directors to define the camera language of the film: lenses, camera movement, staging and shot composition.
Rough layout: translating the storyboards and animatic into 3D, blocking characters, props and sets and setting the timing of each shot.
Final layout: refining cameras after animation and dressing the sets for the final frame.
Delivery: preparing cameras, layouts and scene data for the animation, lighting and compositing teams.

Thanks to the whole team for a great project. It was a privilege to be part of an independent animated feature made in Argentina.
